AIM OF OUR BRANCH

The specific aim of the Norfolk County Branch of the OGS is to carry out our part in the Society's cemetery project. This project was initiated in 1973 to identify the location of all cemeteries in Ontario, precisely record the inscriptions of all the monuments and deposit the records of these transcriptions with the National Archives of Canada, the Archives of Ontario, and the OGS Library (North York Centre, 5120 Yonge Street, 6th Floor, North York, Ontario, Canada M2W 5N9, telephone: 416-395-5624 or 5625).

This is an on-going project both Province-wide and in the County of Norfolk. The fruits of our labours so far can be seen in our List of Publications which includes published transcriptions of the monuments of over eighty local cemeteries. And of course it is also our objective to facilitate genealogical research in the area, and to maintain and expand our Branch Library Reference Collection.
